Going to Joe Patti's Seafood Market

Day 5 Navarre/Pensacola Fl - Touring Day

A little more humid today, but still great weather. Had a quiet morning, reading the - paper and chatting on-line with good friends from a site that I've been part of for 9 years. Where does the time go?

We met up with fellow RV'ers Mike and Jane again and traveled the 20 miles west to the historic section of Pensacola where there was a Cajun festival today. It was okay, with good food and music, but we were hoping for a more artsy/crafty type of event. We sampled some spicy shrimp, hush puppies and french fries (emphasis on the word FRIES, everything was fried) and some bread pudding which was awesome.

Cajun Festival, got my Mardi Gras Beads

Jane and I talk about our healthy cooking habits and everything I've eaten the past three days when we're together has been anything but! Well, at least the meals we've eaten in the RV have been healthy...

We left the festival and returned to Joe Patti's Seafood Market. Even with a son who is a commercial fisherman, I would still kill to have a place like this near home! Our friends bought some tuna, we loved ours from last night.

Later we headed to the nearby Pensacola Naval Air Station to visit the
National Naval Aviation Museum located there. This is a wonderful place to see restored aircraft from the earliest days of US aviation. Carefully detailed exhibits are housed in a huge, spotless building. Later we took a trolley ride outside to tour more aircraft from various time periods and conflicts. A great way to spend a few hours and best of all it's FREE...my favorite price.

Came back to the campground and finally some healthy food, grilled halibut, fresh green beans and baked sweet potato. The only problem with cooking in the RV is that when it's hot outside, using the stove and microwave heats it up inside even with the AC on. This shouldn't be a problem as we head north.

Tomorrow we hit the road again. Not sure exactly where we'll end up, there's some nasty weather north of here. We may try to travel around it. We'll see...
