Day 19 Sheridan WY to
Townsend MT 340 Miles
Happy 18th Birthday to grandson Michael!
The weather was perfect today. We left Sheridan WY and traveled through Crow Indian lands, past the Little Big Horn area on I25 to I90.
Mostly we drove in valleys and NOT over mountains for a change. We feel like the calendar has turned back, the trees have that pale, anemic green of the new leaves just starting to bud. It’s warm and not windy…I don’t think we’ve ever enjoyed warm weather in Montana. There were so many different snowy mountain ranges today’s drive, on both sides…just beautiful.
We turned toward Helena (now about 30 miles south of Helena) on US287, we are at a KOA on a HUGE lake, Canyon Ferry Lake, created by damming the Missouri River. Bet you didn’t know the Mighty Missouri begins way up here!
Didn’t stop long enough to take any pictures, even poor Norman stayed shut up in an overhead cabinet all day…
Tomorrow we head toward Glacier NP, which is right on the Canadian border. Don’t know how long we’ll be at Glacier, we already know that some roads are closed due to the snow.
